REASON 7 now includes integrated action plan writing and tracking. Responsibility, due dates, writing, implementing, as well as follow up activities are tracked through to completion. REASON 7 allows users to attach supporting documentation to their REASON tree models. Pictures, video, audio .. any document can be stored to support the transparency of your investigation and root cause analysis. REASON® Parking Lot When you conduct a root cause analysis investigation, it is common to discover other issues, problems and facts that may have nothing to do with the case at hand - and yet, your organization needs to deal with these issues and not let these things escape correction. Also, it is possible that a root cause analysis investigation will early discover something that eventually will end up being part of the case at hand, but at the moment you may not know exactly how it fits into the case. The Parking Lot feature enables you to capture these issues, problems, and facts for future follow up. It also provides a place to capture and place information about the case that later will be needed as the investigation proceeds. These facts can later be dragged from the Parking Lot and dropped directly into the model. The Parking Lot is all about recording what facts you need quickly and letting you move forward in the investigation. Instead of groups wasting time arguing and debating about the importance of certain facts, the Parking Lot feature enables you to capture facts so that the REASON System can help the group work through the case quickly, efficiently and effectively. REASON® Idea Explorer Sometimes a solution path can be hard to see. This is not an uncommon occurrence. But when this happens, beware because this probably means that those doing the investigation have no idea yet about how to control the problem that they are investigating. Without some help, these situations can result in illogical or inappropriate recommendations and solutions. Without direction the investigation can also lose focus and take too much time and energy. What is it that users need when they find themselves drawing a blank? They need a tool that guides them to explore and create ideas and solutions that will work. This is what the REASON Idea Explorer does. The Idea Explorer guides you to think through the common types of ways that similar failures happen and their solutions. Doing this helps you think about how similar solutions might apply to the situation. When you think that you have discovered a solution, the REASON System then enables you to validate the thinking behind the solution. Transparency . . . it is a quality that regulators, oversight organizations, and professional investigators should and do demand from investigations of operations problems. They want to see 1) what questions were asked during the investigation, 2) what evidence validates each fact and 3) what theories were contemplated, ruled out, and why. REASON has always been designed to be a transparent process, but REASON now makes it even easier to attach relevant information to each factor in the model and to retrieve it when you need it. Just click to enter notes, comments, evidence, and codes. REASON® Grow-Points People like to do things the easiest way that makes the best sense to them. This is why DSI designed REASON to enable different users to work the way they prefer. The new Grow-Points feature in REASON is an example of this. Depending on how a particular user likes to operate in REASON, he might prefer to "drag and drop" the facts of his case in order to organize the causes of his investigation. Others might prefer to just follow and respond to the expert system questions in order to do the same thing. Still others might wish to use the factor statement templates which provide a solid guide for wording factors. Now with Grow-Points, there are five different ways to go about getting facts into the REASON system. The Grow-Points feature enables users to add new facts directly in the graphic interface at any point they wish with one click of the mouse. |
